The Savannah Police Department arrested a 54-year-old man on Wednesday in connection to a shooting in the 1200 block of Rogers St. that left one dead.

On Sept. 20, officers responded to the site of suspected gunfire based a ShotSpotter report around 9:20 p.m. and discovered a victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

While lifesaving measures were adminstered by SPD officers, the victim succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

On Oct. 8 Charles Barnes was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a gun during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

This is an ongoing investigation.
