STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- A 65-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after a standoff with deputies, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).

Deputies responded to reports of shots fired shortly after 7 p.m. on Belle Plains Road. There, the caller reported hearing "yelling and multiple gunshots" from a home nearby.

Deputies said the man was identified as Gregory Pitts, a convicted felon, and despite commands being made for him to leave the home, he instead closed his windows.

The SWAT Team assisted the SCSO by bringing a communication device into Pitts' home to speak with him, which was successful.
