STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Virginia State Police (VSP) is in search of the driver who struck an officer's vehicle during a Monday chase in Stafford County.

According to police, shortly after 6 p.m., a VSP trooper tried to pull over a red Kia Forte for reckless driving on I-95 northbound. The driver refused to stop, and a police chase ensued.

Police said the chase continued into Prince William County. The driver tried to make a U-turn at the intersection of Cardinal and Andover Heights Drive and hit a VSP cruiser, damaging it to the point of being undriveable.

The trooper was not injured during the crash, police added.

The Kia Forte has a Virginia license plate tag of TMG 2420 and damage to the driver-side rear door as seen below:
