DES MOINES, Iowa —

Nick Mitchell, the most successful NAIA wrestling coach in history, has stepped down from the job at Grand View University.

Mitchell, 47, is leaving coaching to pursue an opportunity outside of collegiate athletics, the school said in a news release Thursday afternoon. He helped launch Vikings wrestling in 2008 and quickly turned the program into a national contender — then dominant force.
