Syracuse, N.Y. ― A longtime social justice advocate announced Thursday her retirement as head of InterFaith Works of Central New York.

Beth Broadway, who has served as CEO of the non-profit for 16 years, announced she will be leaving the organization at the end of October.

InterFaith Works, founded in 1976, works to bridge racial and religious divides, offer social services and advocate for marginalized groups.

In her announcement in the group’s newsletter The InterFaith Insider, Broadway wrote that serving communities will “uplift you, crush you and make you a better person.”

The organization honored Broadway, who has worked with the organization for 30 years, at its annual InterFaith Works Leadership Award Dinner on Sept. 16.
