BEAUFORT, S.C. (WTOC) - Two major projects are set to start in the City of Beaufort this month.
Both of them will be done in phases, as they work to replace drainage pipes to help with flooding in the area.
Flooding is a constant problem for people in the historic district of Beaufort.
“This intersection fills up when there is heavy rain,” Beaufort resident Scott Haupt said. “You’ll see the little whirlpools at each one do the sewers, where the water is about 10 inches above the street level.”
Especially on streets like Charles Street, where Haupt lives, and King Street.
“We’ve seen a lot of flooding in the homes and businesses that surround this project,” City of Beaufort Capital Improvements Director Raul Dominguez said.
