WATERBURY, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – The governor hosted his weekly news conference in Waterbury Thursday, at one of the three Cabot Hosiery Mills manufacturing plants where he highlighted National Manufacturing Month.
The governor said in terms of demographics, we are trending the wrong way.
In the last decade, we've gained 48,000 more people over the age of 65. And have 28,000 fewer people between the ages of 40 and 54, which is the backbone of our workforce.

The Director of Workforce Development, Jay Ramsey says there are 1,100 manufacturing businesses in the state, which employs more than 27,000 Vermonters. That's 1 in every 11 jobs in our economy.
Ramsey also highlighted the manufacturing industry has changed immensely over the last few generations.
