NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The United States is officially 9 days into the government shutdown, which could potentially impact the smoothness of air travel and security.

With the government shutdown, federal employees such as TSA personnel and air traffic controllers working without pay. Despite the impacts of the shutdown, travelers at Charleston International Airport said they have had a smooth experience so far.

Traveler from Dallas, TX JL Radford-Williard, explained she received a notifcation from her airline that the flying experience could be more challenging and to plan ahead.

Across the country, flight delays are being reported amidst the government shutdown. Some major airports like Nashville, Denver, O'Hare, San Diego, and more are struggling to keep operations running.
