ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCBD) – State agents announced the arrest of a teen on Thursday who allegedly carried a loaded gun onto South Carolina State University’s campus last weekend.
Jimmy Lee Thompson, Jr., 18, is charged with carrying a weapon on school property, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Agents found a loaded handgun under a chair on Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Hugine Suites Building when they searched the building.
Thompson later admitted that he had been sleeping in the chair, and witnesses said he was the only person who had been in the room, an arrest warrant revealed.
SLED did not say whether the arrest was in connection with the two shootings that happened that same day.
