Syracuse, N.Y. – A two-car crash involving a Syracuse Police Department vehicle shut down part of Erie Boulevard East for around an hour this afternoon.

The two vehicles collided around 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Erie Boulevard East and Devine Street, said Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for Syracuse Police.

A preliminary investigation found the vehicle likely crashed into the police car, he said.

By 2:55 p.m., more than 10 police vehicles were at the scene.

The police car was not responding to any emergency, Coffey said.

Neither officer suffered serious injuries, but both were being evaluated to confirm, Coffey said.

Coffey said the driver of the other car refused medical treatment.
