MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Republican Party of Shelby County is calling on General Sessions Court Clerk Tami Sawyer to resign or be recalled Thursday after a video of her interaction with law enforcement circulated on social media.

The video, posted to the pages of Sen. Brent Taylor and other local Republicans, shows Sawyer yelling and using profanity with officers outside the county courthouse downtown on Oct. 7.

She accused the officers of having white supremacist friends. The video appears to be from an officer's body-worn camera. It is unclear what preceded the interaction with the officers.

WREG has made multiple attempts to reach Sawyer for comment, and a spokesperson told us Sawyer will release a statement on the matter. We will add her statement to this story.
