SAUGERTIES — A head-on collision early Thursday morning has killed two and injured another taken to the hospital, according to Saugerties Police Chief Kyle Swart, Jr.

Upon arrival around 5:27 a.m., officers found two heavily-damaged vehicles in the northbound lane near Sinsapaugh Lane.

Investigators said a 2023 Toyota Corolla driven by a 65-year-old man from Waterbury, Connecticut, was traveling south when it crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a 2022 Ford F-150 driven by a 19-year-old man from Lake Katrine.

The driver of the Toyota and a 61-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The pickup driver was taken to Health Alliance Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
