Great Smoky Mountains National Park was just handed another much-needed victory in the wake of the continuing government shutdown.
When the US government shutdown began on October 1st, 2025, it meant the end of federal funding for government services until Congress passes a funding bill and reopens the government. This dealt a major blow to National Parks across the country, which are supported primarily through federal funds and whose employees are federal employees.
