The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has revealed three new measures aimed at cracking down on Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants. The DWP's fresh Bill is designed to combat benefit and welfare fraud.
The trio of new measures includes "stricter checks for customers altering personal details, including bank accounts", according to the DWP .
It will also involve "conducting awareness sessions for case managers and healthcare professionals, emphasising the necessary actions when suspicious cases are identified".
The final measure will see the DWP "bolster the identity and verification process to prevent fraudulent cases from entering the system," it states. Nearly four million people currently receive PIP from the DWP.
