LeBron James will be on the sidelines for now .
The Los Angeles Lakers announced on Oct. 9 that their star player will be missing three to four weeks of pre-season games —and likely the start of the regular basketball season—due to sciatica on his right side, according to ESPN .
LeBron has yet to participate in the team’s training camp and has already missed two preseason games due to what coach JJ Redick explained was nerve irritation in his glute.
Should the 40-year-old take the full four weeks, he would miss the Laker’s Oct. 21 opening-game against the Golden State Warriors.
While LeBron himself has not publicly said anything about the injury, Coach Redick told reporters prior to the announcement that the NBA icon was "on his own timeline," per ESPN.
