GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - For decades, Grand Island Community Development Director Chad Nabity and his office fielded the same persistent question from residents: “When are we getting a Target?”

Nabity, who has served in this role since December 1999, had a standard response.

“For most of my career, I said, ‘never.’ It’s just not going to happen until they’re ready to make it happen,” Nabity said.

That changed when developer Woodsonia stepped in and bought the Conestoga Mall in March 2023 with the goal to transform it into the Conestoga Marketplace.

Woodsonia had a vision to get rid of the indoor mall experience and make it into what you see today. The major tenant planning to anchor the new mall experience turned out to be Target.
