NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans City Council candidate and State Rep. Delisha Boyd is defending payments her campaign made to her own real estate company, saying they promoted both her campaign and her business — but her explanation has prompted fresh questions about possible violations of state campaign finance laws.

that about $40,000 paid by her campaign and a political action committee supporting her to a company listed in state campaign finance records as “DKR Marketing,” went to Delisha Boyd Realty, her own real estate company.

She said the money was used for marketing, including ads on RTA buses and bus shelters, telling the newspaper, “The business is Delisha Boyd Realty. So, it was about marketing us.”
