KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A routine morning dog walk turned into tragedy when a hit-and-run driver struck a man and his dog, killing his beloved pet and leaving him injured on the city’s west side.

Edwin Sagastume was walking his dogs around 6 a.m. Wednesday near 20th and Pennsylvania when a white truck rammed into him and his pets. Doorbell camera footage captured the horrific moment, showing Sagastume and his four dogs crossing the street before the truck appeared, hit them, and drove off.

“It’s unbelievably scary. I was just so shocked that he didn’t stop,” Sagastume said.

Sagastume said he carefully looked both ways before crossing the street.

“I had looked both ways and I didn’t see any cars,” he said.
