WASHINGTON — On Thursday morning, WMATA 's Board of Directors unanimously approved a two-year, $2 million study in collaboration with the District to reimagine the area around RFK Stadium.

That is welcoming news for Anthony Owens, who takes Metro at the Stadium-Armory station. But he says if a new stadium is coming, the transit system has to keep up.

"More lines would help obviously," he explained, "I think it’s important because they need more money. They need more resources."

WMATA General Manager Randy Clarke says part of the study will be centered around traffic on Commanders game days.

"We’re going to be analyzing how long lines can be, how fast we can move people out, and how safely and orderly we can do that," Clarke explained.
