LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Wednesday, state lawmakers questioned Arkansas officials about a child maltreatment case in Mountain Home in which abuse was reported 29 separate times over the span of a decade before action was taken.

In that case, which came to a head in 2024 when police found the boy locked in a bathroom, two people were arrested on 230 total counts related to the alleged abuse.

The questioning on Oct. 8 was part of a joint meeting of the House and Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs committees related to the process of state employees responding to abuse reports.
