HITCHCOCK, Texas — For more than 30 years, Jimmy Johnson's home in Hitchcock was overrun by millions of bees. The infestation left his walls rotting and his house in shambles. Earlier this year, a local nonprofit beekeeper finally removed the bees for free, but the insects caused extensive damage that made the home unlivable.

Now, thanks to a kind-hearted Hitchcock couple who saw Johnson's story on KHOU 11, his home is getting a new lease on life. Zack and Emily Kagels, who own a business just down the street, said they felt called to step in.
