BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Kids didn’t just watch firefighters in action Thursday, they became part of it.

For the first time, the Bismarck Fire Department opened its doors for a community open house at Station 4, held from 4 to 7 p.m. Families filled the station to see firsthand what firefighters do every day — from battling fires to rescuing people trapped in buildings.

Crews turned their training grounds into a hands-on learning zone. Children tackled an obstacle course, learned about rope rescues, and practiced aiming water at targets in the popular “spray house.” Families crowded around live demonstrations showing how firefighters use tools to cut open cars and force through locked doors during real emergencies.
