WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community for help in searching for an 80-year-old woman.

Ellen Abernathy Ashdown was last seen around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to WCSO, Ashdown went for a walk on River Sink Road and did not return home. She typically only walks for about an hour, WCSO said.

Ashdown is described as petite and slender with gray, curly hair.

In a Facebook post from WCSO updated Thursday morning, authorities are still searching for Ashdown.

Now, the sheriff’s department is organizing a community search for Ashdown that will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday.

WCSO encouraged “volunteers, local residents, search and rescue groups, hikers, [and] anyone willing to help” with the search to meet at the entrance driveway to 124 R
