BOSTON — One night after his first game in 11 months, Hampus Lindholm went to the dressing room and didn’t return in the first period of the Bruins’ home opener against the Blackhawks at TD Garden.

It’s unclear what injury the Bruins defenseman suffered. He played six shifts and was last on the ice with just over 8 minutes left in the first period and didn’t return after the first intermission.

The Bruins announced he would not return.

Lindholm, who suffered a kneecap injury on Nov. 12, 2024 and never returned last year, has been fully healthy in training camp and played 20:01 against the Capitals in Boston’s season opener on Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

Lindholm was named an alternate captain before the season started.
