A woman was killed late Thursday night in Lawrence after she became pinned between her car and another as she attempted to tend to her infant child, police said.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, when a woman parked her 2015 Honda DRV on Currier Street in Lawrence. When the woman got out of her car to tend to her infant child, it began to roll backward. She attempted to stop the vehicle, but got pinned against another vehicle, police wrote on Facebook .

The woman was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The infant was also taken to the hospital, but was unharmed, police said.

The collision remains under investigation.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family," police wrote.
