Independent senator David Pocock has been kicked out of the Parliamentary Sports Club just two days after raising concerns about a gambling lobby firm’s sponsorship and calling into question Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s presidency of the club during Senate estimates this week.
Pocock had asked questions of the government during Senate estimates on Tuesday about why the Parliamentary Sports Club had been registered as a lobbyist group last month, had Responsible Wagering Australia – a lobby group that represents some of the nation’s largest betting companies – as a member, and the fact that Albanese was president of the organisation.
