CLEVELAND, Ohio - As Northeast Ohio’s DEVO continues its probable final rounds of live shows, the local labor-of-love fan convention and annual gathering of spuds known as DEVOtional — happening from Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11, at the Beachland Ballroom — is halfway to 50 and thriving. The event, celebrating 25 years, began as an informal gathering of in a long-gone and forgotten bookstore, semi-recalled DEVOtional co-founder Michael Pilmer, who also runs the website. “Just a dirty little room with some weirdo UFO books and stuff in it,” he said, describing the Akron location at the turn of the century.
