LOS ANGELES, California — Former Boston Celtics star and NBA Hall of Famer Paul Pierce was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle, reports say.

The California Highway Patrol found Pierce at about 11:35 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 101 in the San Fernando Valley, ABC 7 reports . Lanes on the highway had been closed for an unrelated crash. When officers reopened the lanes, they found Pierce in his Range Rover.

TMZ reports that CHP officers “noted signs of alcohol impairment,” leading to Pierce’s arrest. He has been charged with a misdemeanor of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Reports say Pierce has not commented on the incident.
