I was walking with my neighbor and our dogs last week when sirens started screaming toward us. Police cars, fire and EMS all speeding to a nearby corner, where a student had just been hit by a car.
It was the second car-bike crash I’ve witnessed in Rocky River, where many kids walk and bike to school. It was one of three crashes here in the same number of weeks.
Two of the three children suffered severe injuries, including broken bones. Two were struck by teen drivers commuting to and from school.
Scary. But these collisions are happening all over Northeast Ohio. A school crossing guard just died in Westlake after being struck by a vehicle.
