CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. —
Three high school football players in North Carolina died in a crash.
Cumberland County Schools said Jai’hyon Elliott, Trevor Merritt and Nicholas Williams were members of the Golden Bulls Football Team at E.E. Smith High School.
The Fayetteville Police Department said the crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 8.
They said the three players and one other person were in the car when it ran off the road and hit a telephone pole.
The three high school players died at the scene and a fourth person in the car was airlifted to UNC Chapel Hill in critical condition.
