Surging Marietta and North Cobb are set to meet at Northcutt Stadium this week to battle for the top spot in Region 5AAAAAA.

Marietta showed promise over the course of its non-conference schedule, most notably playing what appears to be one of the state’s best, McEachern, down to the wire in a 16-13 loss.

Since beginning region play, however, the Blue Devils have flipped a switch. Picking up convincing wins over Wheeler, Etowah and stealing a double-overtime thriller last week over Walton, Marietta currently sits at 3-0 in region play, a half-game ahead of North Cobb.
