Shotts boss John McKeown hopes Gretna’s artificial pitch will give them a better chance of getting a game on, after Storm Amy blew away their tie against Irvine Vics.
McKeown’s side were due to host Irvine in the Strathclyde Demolition Cup second round on Saturday, but a water-logged Hannah Park put paid to those hopes.
Shotts travel to Gretna 2008 in the South Challenge Cup third round this weekend, and McKeown hopes to get stuck in to their Lowland League opponents in a first game for three weeks.
But he also conceded that the enforced hiatus might allow players more time to return from injury.
McKeown said: “It’s an artificial pitch at Gretna, so I’m pretty sure that one will go on.
