STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. -- Two motorcyclists died in a crash near Chewelah on Thursday afternoon, according to Washington State Patrol.
Around 3:30 p.m. on October 9, 52-year-old Ida Hildebrand was driving north on Highway 395, four miles south of Chewelah, in a Jeep Patriot.
WSP said Hildebrand attempted to pass another car and swerved into the southbound lane, hitting a motorcycle with two riders from Deer Park, Washington.
According to WSP, the motorcyclists, 74-year-old Jerome Venters and 76-year-old Gloria Venters, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Hildebrand was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash and was transported to the hospital for her injuries.
She is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.
WSP said drugs or alcohol were involved in the cause of the crash.
