GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Gaslight Bar and Grill, a staple in Greenville for more than 70 years, will once again be able to keep its doors open after midnight — a decision that comes one week after city leaders suspended late-night privileges from a Main Street Bar amid efforts to crack down on crime and fend off future fights downtown.
“I almost started crying when I was inside,” said Gaslight owner Nathan Bennett.
Bennett said he was overjoyed when the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) granted a special exception permit for the bar to operate after midnight.
“It’s the number one question I get asked because Gaslight has been here since 1952 — 73 years,” he explained.
Gaslight started serving drinks after midnight in 2015, but when Bennett took over as owner earlier this year, he
