Berlin was on Thursday once again transformed during the annual Festival of Lights.
Over the course of nine days, the German capital’s landmarks, historic buildings, and city squares will be illuminated every night with elaborate light and video installations under this year’s motto, “Let’s Shine Together.”
This year the festival focuses on sustainability, mindfulness, and the preservation of cultural diversity.
Beginning each evening at 7 p.m local time., the city’s most iconic sites—among them the television tower and Brandenburg Gate—will be transformed into glowing canvases for artistic storytelling through light, sound, and projection.
The illuminations will run daily until 11 p.m., inviting both locals and visitors to experience Berlin in a new light.
Particularly popular are the immersive light shows at Bebelplatz, where projections cover the square from three sides, accompanied by music.
Held each autumn, the Festival of Lights celebrates unity, creativity, and community—drawing hundreds of thousands to the heart of the capital to witness the city’s transformation into a glowing spectacle.
