BIG STONE GAP, Va. – Union football player Keith Chandler embarked on a grueling mission this past summer.

In the heat of June and July, the 5-foot-10 running back sacrificed in preparation for his senior season.

The results were evident Thursday night.

Chandler rushed for 230 yards and two scores on 36 carries as the Union Bears powered to a 42-21 win over the Ridgeview Wolfpack in another Mountain 7 District showdown at Bullitt Park.

“I was out here grinding all the time by myself this summer,” Chandler said. “In the hottest part of day, I would run sprints, work out in the weight room and just try to lose as much weight we I could.”
