BOSTON — Fraser Minten wasn’t planning to shoot.

As the Bruins rookie skated up the ice with Morgan Geekie on a two-on-one in overtime, he was planning to give the puck to last year’s 30-goal scorer.

“I was thinking pass,” he said. “Geeks has a great one timer.”

But as Blackhawks defenseman Sam Rinzel positioned himself to play the pass, Minten adjusted.

“I tried to throw a little deception in,” Minten said.

He set up like he was ready to dish and instead slung a wrist shot from inside the dot on the right wing face-off circle. As it sailed by Arvid Soderblom into the net, to give Boston a 4-3 victory , TD Garden erupted.

While the rookie celebrated with a windmill fist pump that would have impressed Tiger Woods, the Bruins’ bench poured onto the ice to join him.
