The National Weather Service released a coastal flood watch at 5:07 a.m. on Friday valid from Sunday 8 a.m. until Monday 6 p.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.
"One to two feet of inundation above ground level possible in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline," comments the weather service. "For Sunday into Monday, 8 to 12 foot breaking waves are possible along the oceanfront resulting in areas of beach erosion."
"Flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront," adds the weather service. "If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive aroun
