Lynne Versaci, a Dutchess County Legislator, has recently undergone open-heart surgery.

Her life-altering surgery was long, and had its complications, but she is officially on the road to recovery.

Her friends have banded together to create a fundraiser event dubbed Kickstart Lynne's Heart.

Lying in Lenox Hill Hospital, after 11 hours of open-heart surgery, Lynne Versaci's heartbeat was barely there.

She was born with congenital heart disease and, at 54, underwent a life-saving heart surgery on Aug. 25 called an aortic root surgery, putting a mechanical valve in her heart to replace a leaking aortic valve.

She also had a bicuspid valve to deal with and a subaortic membrane which needed to be scraped out, as it was impeding blood flow on one side of her heart.
