Thousands of families missing out on HMRC support worth £2,000 View 2 Images

Parents are being encouraged to claim up to £2,000 a year towards childcare costs, as new data reveals that hundreds of thousands of families are not taking advantage of the available assistance. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) reported that 571,945 families received payments through the Government's Tax-Free Childcare scheme in June, receiving an average of £100 monthly towards nursery, childminder or after-school club expenses.

However, experts have warned that "too many still miss out" on this support, which can be the deciding factor between returning to work or remaining at home. Under this scheme, for every £8 paid in, the Government contributes an additional £2, up to a maximum of £2,000 per year per chil
