Universal Credit claimants have been issued a "prove your identity" warning as the types of documentation the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) accepts changes.

From October 7, the DWP has added UK driving licence to the list of evidence you can use when you prove your identity online. In April, it removed payslips and P60s from the list of evidence you can use when you prove your identity online.

Payslips and P60s can no longer be used for online identity verification, the DWP said. The DWP warns: "If you want to claim Universal Credit you must verify your identity. This guide for claimants and people supporting them explains how to do that.
