KINGSTON — Ulster County lawmakers began charting a path Thursday toward upgrading and consolidating county office space, approving the first phase of a long-term plan to modernize the county’s aging government buildings.

Meeting in the Health, Human Services and Human Rights Committee, legislators advanced Resolution 466, which establishes Capital Project No. 739 for interior renovations to the Golden Hill Office Building at 239 Golden Hill Drive in Kingston.

The 1970s-era facility houses several key departments, including Health, and has long been plagued by maintenance and space issues.
