DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings’ season-opener Thursday looked remarkably similar to many games last season.

Odd-man rushes led to easy offense for the opposition. They didn’t score five-on-five. They couldn’t get a key save when they needed one. Instead of pushing back when momentum shifted against them, they folded.
