Brooklyn Councilmember Lincoln Restler joined “Mornings On 1” Friday to discuss his push to end placard parking abuse.

Restler is advocating for a bill that could roll back as many as 60,000 city parking permits, part of a broader effort to reclaim streets for residents.

The move comes after dozens of illegally parked cars were cleared under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, including a lot on Navy Street near Tillary Street that had been used for decades.

Over the summer, Restler’s office surveyed 60 blocks in Downtown Brooklyn and found an average of 457 illegally parked cars each day, nearly two-thirds displaying some type of city placard or NYPD permit.
