City to restrict lobby access at night, weekends for safety

The increased number of people sleeping at night at the Surprise Police Department lobby has forced the city to stop keeping it open around the clock.

The lobby at 14250 W. Statler Plaza will begin daily closing hours on Saturday, Nov. 1 after thefts of city property rose because of the public’s unrestricted access after office hours.

The new closing hours will between 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays, while it will be completely closed on weekends.
