I confess I am not a huge fan of Elizabeth Day’s non-fiction, but her fiction manages to go deep and dark in ways that I hugely enjoy.

So it is with One of Us . This is a return to the world of Ben and Martin, who we first met in The Party (it is possible to read this without having first read that, but you may find you spoil the earlier novel for yourself). Now, seven years have gone by since the charged events of Ben’s 40th birthday. In this time, the former best friends haven’t spoken.
