A mother has died after she got out of her vehicle on Thursday night to attend to her infant and wound up pinned between her SUV and another vehicle in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Lawrence police said that shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, a woman parked her Honda CRV on Currier Street and then walked around it to tend to her infant. The SUV began rolling backward, and she tried to stop it but was pinned against another vehicle.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The infant was also taken to the hospital but was uninjured.

The matter is under investigation by Lawrence and state police.
