Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened overnight in downtown Duluth.

A man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound around 12:30 a.m. Friday when officers were called to the 200 block of West 3rd Street on reports of gunfire. His identity is not yet known.

"We are currently working on identifying the male victim," Duluth PD said in a statement posted to social media. "We have no additional information to release at this time as we are in the early stages of this active and ongoing investigation."

No arrests have been made, with Duluth police asking residents and business owners in the area to check footage from their surveillance cameras.
