A huge area of mature trees has been cut down in the grounds of an East Kilbride restaurant to the widespread fury and dismay of local residents – with the new owners now apologising for the “insensitive” action and saying: “We made a mistake.” ‌

Hundreds of people shared their outrage after the large quantity of trees was felled at The Osprey on Strathaven Road, with the local community noting that up to 80 well-established trees of a variety of species including an oak had been chopped down and calling the shock move “vandalism”. ‌
