A former Mays Landing man whose murder conviction was overturned in May is now free after the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office tossed the charge, according to court documents.
Timothy P. Wright, 45, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, was found guilty in 2022 in the 2014 death of 25-year-old Joyce Vanderhoff.
However, an appellate court ordered a new trial after determining police illegally seized his phone a month before applying for a search warrant.
The phone provided what prosecutors described were “turn by turn directions” from where Vanderhoff’s body was discovered to Wright’s home.
